Meet Pickle
We are absolutely delighted to introduce the newest and arguably the most adorable member of the City of Liverpool Rotary Club family, Pickle, our very own sponsored guide dog puppy.
A few weeks ago, we took on the exciting responsibility of sponsoring another puppy through Guide Dogs UK. With those big brown eyes, that gorgeous golden coat, and a personality to match, Pickle has already stolen all of our hearts.
Why Sponsor a Guide Dog ?
At the heart of Rotary is a commitment to making a real difference in people's lives and few causes embody that more beautifully than Guide Dogs UK. There are around 180,000 people living with sight loss in the UK who could benefit from a guide dog, yet demand far outstrips supply. Sponsoring a puppy is a meaningful, tangible way to help change that.
Sponsoring a guide dog puppy isn't just about writing a cheque. It means following Pickle's journey from playful, fluffy pup all the way through to the transformative moment when she is paired with her new owner. Our sponsorship helps fund the incredible training, care, and expertise that goes into shaping each dog into a life-changing companion. It takes around two years and thousands of pounds to train a single guide dog.
A guide dog make a huge difference to someone living with sight loss, a guide dog isn't just a pet, they are freedom, independence, and confidence wrapped up in a cute wagging tail. The bond between a guide dog and their owner is truly something remarkable, opening up a world that might otherwise feel out of reach. Knowing that this wonderful little Golden Retriever could one day be that companion for someone is a deeply moving thought.
We'll be sharing updates on Pickle's progress over the coming months, so watch this space, we have a feeling there are plenty of wonderful moments still to come!
