Legacy.
For almost 60 years, the City of Liverpool Rotary Club has been a cornerstone in supporting the Merseyside Children’s Holiday Fund. From its inception in 1967, the club not only helped found the charity but has maintained an unbroken record of providing both financial resources and practical support. This long-term commitment has helped ensure that disadvantaged children from Liverpool are given the opportunity to enjoy a memorable holiday experience every year, reinforcing the charity’s mission and success throughout the decades.
This enduring partnership demonstrates how consistent, community-based support can make a significant impact over time.

Our club proudly supports our community’s future by sponsoring a deserving young person to attend a week-long Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program. This immersive experience is crafted to develop leadership skills through intensive workshops, collaborative team-building challenges, and insightful mentorship throughout the entire week.
By sending a local nominee on this transformative journey, our club demonstrates its commitment to nurturing talent and cultivating practical, life-enhancing skills. The week-long format provides a unique opportunity for participants to dive deep into leadership development, forge lasting relationships, and emerge as confident change-makers ready to make a positive impact in Liverpool and beyond.

At our club, volunteering is a celebration of community spirit and shared purpose. We support events like the Glow Green Night Walk as marshals, registration aides, and logistical support, creating a vibrant, fun atmosphere for all involved. Our role goes beyond the basics—by partnering with other charities, we reinforce bonds that amplify our collective impact. Working together, we foster new friendships and memorable experiences that uplift the community. When we unite around a common cause, we transform events into joyful celebrations that leave a lasting legacy, underscoring the power of collaboration and the excitement of giving back.

Legacy.
Each year, our Rotary club helps light up landmark buildings in purple as a powerful symbol of our commitment to ending polio worldwide. The colour purple represents the ink used to mark the fingers of children who have been immunised, serving as a reminder of the lives we have already helped protect and the communities we continue to reach.
Thanks to Rotary and its partners, we have helped reduce polio cases by more than 99 percent, bringing the world closer than ever to complete eradication. Yet the fight is not over; until every last child is safe, our efforts continue. These illuminations are both a celebration of how far we have come and a pledge to finish the job.

Our club is proud to support microfinance initiatives through lendwithcare, a powerful platform that helps people in developing countries build better lives through sustainable entrepreneurship. By providing small loans to individuals with big ideas, we enable aspiring business owners to grow their enterprises, support their families, and contribute to their local economies.
This approach is not about charity, but empowerment. Each loan helps create jobs, increase incomes, and build resilience within communities. As the money is repaid, it is reinvested again and again, creating a ripple effect of opportunity and lasting impact. Through Lendwithcare, we are helping people take control of their futures with dignity and determination.

Some of our members travelled to Uganda to support vital community health initiatives focused on HIV awareness and testing. Working alongside local partners, they delivered education and on-site testing in both schools and rural villages. The goal was to help young people better understand their health, reduce stigma, and make informed choices. Their presence brought essential medical support and built trust within the communities through regular engagement and respectful, culturally sensitive conversations.
Alongside the testing work, the volunteers also introduced sports and games in schools to encourage participation, break down barriers, and create a safe space for discussions around wellbeing. These activities helped foster teamwork and confidence while giving students a chance to relax and connect. It was a powerful reminder that health education is not just about facts but about human connection, shared experiences, and mutual understanding.
