Enjoy an evening with LJMU Legal Academics; Dr Sarah Bennett and Dr Alison Lui
Unlocking Legal Frontiers
Get ready for a thought-provoking evening that will challenge everything you think you know about justice, technology, and the law.
The City of Liverpool Rotary Club is delighted to welcome two of LJMU's most compelling legal minds, Dr Sarah Bennett and Dr Alison Lui, for a night of fascinating conversation.
Dr Sarah Bennett, will take us inside one of the most shocking criminal cases in recent British history: the trial of Lucy Letby. What does the legal process really look like from the inside, and what can it teach us about the pursuit of justice?
Then, Dr Alison Lui will share her remarkable and deeply unsettling personal story of discovering that her own published work was used to train an Anthropic AI algorithm, without her knowledge or consent. In an age where artificial intelligence is reshaping every corner of society, who really owns creative works?
Two extraordinary stories. Two urgent questions. One unmissable evening.
Join us at The Racquet Club Hotel for lively discussion, great company, and a delicious hotpot supper to round off the night.
Whether you're a Rotarian, a student, a legal professional, or simply someone who loves a good debate — you're warmly welcome.
