Helping in the Community : Day 2 of the Scout Hut Uplift

What an eventful and productive day! We started by taking down the boards that need cleaning, updating, or in some cases replacing. Then it was straight on to painting — floor to ceiling in the big hall — refreshing the space and making it bright and welcoming again.

Upstairs, another room was cleared, the balcony was tidied so it can finally be used, and stores were reorganised to make the equipment easier to access. We even managed to start transforming another upstairs room into what will become the group’s very own history room.

Our Rotary members were incredible. They rolled up their sleeves and got stuck into every job we handed them. From morning through to late afternoon, paint brushes and rollers were going strong, with chatter and laughter filling the hall the whole time.

The leaders are beyond grateful for all the help we’ve received so far. We’re already looking forward to Part 3 of the clean‑up crew — with the skip and outdoor areas likely to be the next focus… and maybe a bit more painting too!

Vaccination might be a bit of a sore point at the moment.
